How AEG’s Role-Playing Games Impacted the Industry?

Role-playing games provide an immersive experience where participants assume characters within an imaginary setting and use rules-based decision-making to manage characters and events in the world they inhabit. Role-playing can take place anywhere from medieval fantasy settings populated with dragons and wizards to futuristic space adventures that span galaxies; many even enjoy Live Action Role Playing (LARPing), where participants dress up as their character’s actions within real-life settings – making for an engaging, interactive experience!
Some role-playing games offer a central storyline that all the players follow, while others allow for greater player choice and personalization. Players may select which race, class, spells, and skills their characters will possess while determining how their powers and skills develop as the game goes along. Some even feature miniatures where players can physically represent their characters during a session!
Most role-playing games are board or card games, though a select few video games also belong to this genre. Computer versions often combine real-time and turn-based combat systems to simulate the experience of tabletop RPGs while typically prioritizing battles over stories. Some computer role-playing games do offer systems for creating and developing central plotlines — something more commonly seen with JRPGs like the Final Fantasy series or Chrono Trigger, for instance.
Since 1993, AEG has released many games that have received Origins awards. Two notable board game releases from AEG include Thunderstone Advance (a revision of the original card game Thunderstone) and Nightfall (an aggressive head-to-head deckbuilding game that won BGG Editors’ Choice in 2012). Role-playing titles published include several Euro games as well as various versions of the d20 System; in 2009, they entered the card game market with 10 releases, including popular deckbuilding games Dominare Mercante Courtier
