What’s Inside the Ystari Box?
Ystari is a French publisher known for their playful yet whimsically named games. Established in 2004, the publisher achieved immediate success after publishing Caylus. Since then, many other original titles and French-language versions of other big titles, including Agricola, Carcassonne and Le Havre have also been released by this small company – on average publishing two in-house games annually.
Amyitis, a light bluffing and resource gathering game set during the Renaissance; and Yspahan, an intricate naval power struggle set in Venice that inspired 2009 Ystari Box that included mini expansion cards to replace those found in base game, Palace board pieces, and two additional characters – are among their signature titles.
Bombay, another game from this series, features players taking on the role of merchants in India. Players acquire goods at trading posts before selling them across four cities – those whose goods are most in demand will get paid out first! They may also build palaces that earn prestige points. It is designed for two players but in 2009 Ystari Box also included the second expansion, Sylla: Caveant Consules that adds five players, new Prestige buildings and Favor Board.

What Does Amyitis Tell Us About Ystari Games?
Amyitis is the second worker placement game released by Ystari Games after Caylus. In this worker placement game, players compete for prestige by building one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – among them one or more of the Seven Wonders of Amyitis itself! You represent noble Babylonians trying to achieve prestige through building gardens and their irrigation network as well as trading goods and recruiting.
Amyitis people tend to be charismatic leaders with strong desires to take control over their life. They enjoy overcoming challenges to reach their goals, have high self-esteem, prioritize harmony and beauty in their lives and often feel pressured by work demands.
Amyitis can be an intimidating game to master. Although its balance between worker placement and resource management makes for an engaging experience, its vast number of possibilities that occur each turn makes winning difficult to predict in advance. Placing peasants, collecting resource tokens or moving camel caravans to desired spots all depend on so many external factors that it becomes hard to plan several turns ahead.
